Cap Anamur launches aid delivery to embattled Chernihiv region<\/strong><\/h5>\n

Cap Anamur board members Volker Rath and Dr. Werner H\u00f6fel have already been in Ukraine for over a week to coordinate our emergency aid campaign. Volker Rath reports from Ukraine and describes the situation on the ground.<\/h5>\n

“Yesterday, after two large transports from Romania and a smaller one from Germany, we had completely set up our large central warehouse in the old town hall of Novoselytsia, and immediately the first transport went to Borsna, a town in the embattled Chernihiv region about 200 km northeast of Kyiv, in cooperation with Mayor Maria Nikorich.
\nWhile the city population mainly contributes food, our contribution consisted of medicine, as well as urgently needed baby food and equipment.<\/p>\n

The transport attempts to reach the disputed region by clandestine routes. If this is no longer possible, the goods will be stored in a center in Kyiv, where they will be picked up by a local team under the supervision of Mayor Lariyssa Osadschuk of Borsna.[\/vc_column_text][vc_single_image media=”107745″ caption=”yes” media_lightbox=”yes” media_width_use_pixel=”yes” lbox_caption=”yes” lbox_connected=”yes” custom_cursor=”light” uncode_shortcode_id=”290002″ media_width_pixel=”960″][vc_column_text uncode_shortcode_id=”890792″]<\/p>\n

“More shipments are to follow as the security situation permits. After the current attacks in Lviv and Ivano-Frankivsk, only 70 km away from our location, the level of insecurity among the population has risen sharply.
\nAs we observed today during a visit to the city of Chernivtsi, a large part of the population prefers to seek a relatively safe place to stay at night in shelters.”
