Elections could be held on Dec. 27, but not in all localities. In Bossemb\u00e9l\u00e9 and Yaloke, for example, where Cap Anamur operates medical facilities, no elections took place due to the precarious situation. Even during Christmas, we treated about 40 injured people at Bossemb\u00e9l\u00e9 Hospital who were affected by the intense fighting.<\/p>\n

Today we received a big food delivery for the shelter seekers at Cap Anamur Hospital in Bossemb\u00e9l\u00e9. Since yesterday, about 1,500 people who fled the armed clashes between the rebel groups and the government soldiers are in the Cap Anamur hospital compound. The people seeking protection are supplied with food by our employees on site. Presidential elections are scheduled for the end of this year in the Central African Republic. In addition to the current president, Faustin Archange Touad\u00e9ra, other candidates have run for election. Among others, former President Fran\u00e7ois Boziz\u00e9, who was deposed in 2013, has put himself forward as a presidential candidate. However, his candidacy was rejected by the election commission.
\nBecause of this rejection, Francois Boziz\u00e9 has joined forces with former military and rebel groups and is currently marching toward the capital Bangui. His plan is for the presidential election on Dec. 27 not to take place. Instead, an interim government in which he wants to be involved is to be formed. Many villagers have fled with their families due to the fighting. Several hundred people also fled to the Cap Anamur hospital grounds to seek shelter from the attacks.
