With our hospital and three other medical sites, we continue to be there for the people in the region,&#8221;<\/em><\/strong> explains Bernd G\u00f6ken shortly before his project trip to Sudan on April 24.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Bernd G\u00f6ken<\/strong> has been intimately familiar with <strong>Sudan<\/strong> for over <strong>20 years<\/strong>. He has <strong>helped run<\/strong> Cap Anamur&#8217;s <strong>hospital<\/strong> in the Nuba Mountains since 1999. At that time, there was already a bloody civil war, which has not been completely settled to this day, as no binding peace treaty has yet been signed.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Cap Anamur&#8217;s work in Sudan has always taken place under difficult conditions.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>In the 25 years that Cap Anamur has been working in Sudan, there have been <strong>repeated<\/strong> <strong>armed conflicts<\/strong>. Occasionally, project staff had to be brought to safety from air raids.<\/p>\n<p>In <strong>recent years<\/strong>, however, the <strong>situation<\/strong> in the Nuba Mountains has been <strong>calmer<\/strong>. In 2018\/19, the last attacks took place in the region.<\/p>\n<p>Bernd G\u00f6ken made the trip to Sudan despite the current fighting.
