Our goals in Haiti and what we were able to achieve

From 2003 to 2006, Cap Anamur had its first mission in the Caribbean country. At that time, the country was once again on the brink of civil war.

  • Cap Anamur had implemented an irrigation project for reforestation in the district of Fondole, as well as a household project for cooking with solar energy and built a health station in Fondole.

After the severe earthquake in January 2010, Cap Anamur initially provided emergency medical aid. Afterwards, we were involved in the reconstruction of the infrastructure: We rebuilt destroyed schools, took care of the medical care of the earthquake victims in a hospital and several tent camps.

1. location Gressier
  • During the emergency phase, Cap Anamur supported the medical care of the earthquake victims in the hospital of Gressier and in several tent camps with dispatched specialists.
  • The school in the town of 25,000 inhabitants was completely destroyed by the earthquake. Our technicians rebuilt them within a year.
  • During a cholera outbreak that claimed thousands of lives, Cap Anamur helped contain the disease in its tent camps.
  • At the end of the mission, a maternity ward was built for the hospital in Gressier.
2. location Les Palmes
  • The school in Les Palmes was also destroyed after the earthquake. It was rebuilt by Cap Anamur.

In 2011, all reconstruction measures were completed. During the project period, this allowed 2 schools to be rebuilt and reused for more than 600 students.
