Further aid for the victims of the earthquake in Aleppo
Cap Anamur brought a second shipment of aid to Aleppo for earthquake victims, last weekend. People still lack everything. They especially suffer from hunger and are defenceless against the cold.

Last Saturday, Cap Anamur's shipment of relief goods arrived to those affected by the earthquake in Aleppo. Our team from Lebanon had set out for the northern regions of Syria on Friday and was able to distribute more than 12 tons of goods over the weekend.

The situation in Syria
Political situation
Since 2011, Syria has been locked in a bloody civil war between dictator Bashar al-Assaad and rebel groups, Kurdish militias and even the terrorist organization ISIS. The involvement of numerous actors has made the conflict increasingly opaque and unpredictable. Among other things, the Turkish military has waged several military offensives in the north of the country against Kurdish forces since 2016. As of 2021, activist groups report that up to 610,000 people have died, and the UN estimates that more than 300,000 civilians have died.
Social situation.
Large parts of the country have been destroyed and offer people neither a livelihood nor prospects for the future. More than 5 million people have fled the country, and 6.3 million are classified as internally displaced. What all refugees have in common is the precarious situation in which they find themselves, at home and abroad. The Assad government is bombarding its own population with poison gas and is increasingly destroying hospitals. The health care system is being shut down. Treatment now only takes place in small, poorly equipped underground clinics. With the earthquake of February 8, 2023, the country experiences another stroke of fate and once again suffers thousands of casualties.
Cap Anamur was already active in Syria from 2012 - 2018. We have provided medical care to Syrian internally displaced persons by operating two polyclinics and several underground clinics to provide medical care. When the safety conditions no longer permitted our work in the country, we operated a container clinic in the Jordanian border area near a refugee settlement.
Cap Anamur provided emergency medical aid in Syria from 2012 – 2018. By operating several medical facilities, we have provided medical care to the inland refugees.
How it will continue
The situation in northern Syria is catastrophic and unpredictable for the time being. We will try to help the population in the region as much as we can. We report on current developments in our project reports and newsletter.
