Our goal
Ukraine - aid and supplies for war refugees
Since the start of Russia’s war of aggression, Cap Anamur / Deutsche Not-Ärzte e.V. has been providing humanitarian aid to the affected population. While the initial focus was on acute emergency aid, our work has since evolved.
Today, we are focusing primarily on supporting internally displaced persons within Ukraine. A key priority is the running and development of shelters where people can find safe housing and access basic counseling and support.
In addition, we continue to provide medical assistance and supply urgently needed equipment to regions that have been particularly hard hit.

The situation in Ukraine
Political situation
Due to the war of aggression of Russian President Putin on Ukraine, the humanitarian situation of the people in the country is catastrophic. There is widespread warfare throughout the country, including against civilian facilities. There are now nearly 4 million internally displaced people within the country. (Source: UN)
The Ukrainian people are putting up fierce resistance to the invasion, both militarily and through civil society. There is no end in sight to the conflict for the time being.
Social situation
Since the beginning of the war, the Ukrainian population has faced immense suffering. The humanitarian conditions in Ukraine are worsening day by day. Daily deaths, injuries, lack of food and medicine, desolate supply of water and electricity.
Cap Anamur has already supported two clinics in the conflict zone of Eastern Ukraine in 2015-2018.
Emergency shelter in a gymnasium in Ukraine
Our engagement in Ukraine
While at the start of our work we primarily provided emergency aid and supplied hospitals with urgently needed medications, bandages, medical instruments, and baby food, our focus today is on supporting internally displaced persons (IDPs).
A key component of our current work is the operation and expansion of shelters. For example, we operate a women’s and family shelter in Dnipro. There, residents not only find safe housing but also have access to social, legal, and medical counseling. Many of the women use this support to gradually build a new, self-determined life for themselves.
In addition, we are active in other shelters, particularly in western Ukraine, such as in the Chernivtsi region. There, we are expanding our capacity to respond to the growing number of people seeking refuge.
Given the repeated attacks on energy infrastructure, ensuring the supply of electricity and heat is also a key component of our assistance. Among other things, we provide support by supplying generators.
In addition, we continue to provide medical assistance—for example, by procuring and transporting urgently needed equipment such as dialysis machines, as well as by shipping emergency and training equipment to particularly affected regions near the front lines.
