7,000 Masks for School Children in Bangladesh

With the outbreak of the Corona pandemic in April 2020 in Bangladesh, all educational institutions were closed. After almost a year, the first schools reopen and Cap Anamur distributes protective masks to the school children.

The nearly year-long school closure in Bangladesh has resulted in a high educational deficit among girls and boys. Children from very poor families in particular have felt far-reaching effects alongside this. For these children, going to school means social contacts, school support and a hot meal a day – usually the only one at all.

Although schools in Bangladesh have now been reopened, at the same time the Corona infection numbers have been rising sharply since the beginning of March. Hygiene and protective measures are therefore essential.

Impoverished families can not even afford protective masks

Unfortunately, many people in Bangladesh cannot adhere to the important hygiene recommendations because they cannot follow distance rules in the crowded cities or stay at home as day laborers. Some families are even too poor to afford masks.

The school board has contacted Cap Anamur for assistance in distributing the masks to schools and orphanages. This is because, in addition to providing the masks, we also provide education on how to wear them properly. We educate students about the important role of masks in protecting against infection, especially with the current increase in infection rates.

7,000 protective masks for students in Bangladesh

We distributed almost 7,000 masks in the SUS school in Netrokona, the orphanage JogothJoti and the school in Ramu, Cox`s Bazar. Especially children from very poor families, who can afford neither disinfectants nor protective masks, live in these areas.

With these important measures, we are helping to ensure that the children of very poor families in particular receive support for limiting Corona infection.

So far, we have distributed masks as part of our medical care near our collaborating clinics. Now we are also taking care of the children in Bangladesh.
